This sewing introduction class is designed for someone that is brand spanking new to sewing a looking for a comprehensive introduction into using a sewing machine. This course will provide a very thorough introduction to the sewing machine. You will learn everything you need to know to get started. There will also be a lesson on how to use a sewing pattern and how to properly cut fabric. We will use these new skills to construct a tote bag.
Date & Time:
March 7th. This is a one day workshop. 11 am - 6 pm with a half-hour break
The Madrid Tote:
This versatile tote is a large carry-all bag featuring two exterior pockets, mitered corners, and webbing straps. It is a beginner level project that will allow you to learn several fundamental techniques to build your sewing repertoire.
There is no prerequisite for taking this class. It’s perfect for someone looking to begin their sewing hobby and gain a thorough understanding of the sewing machine and basic techniques.
What you will learn:
• The ins and outs of a sewing machine, along with how to thread and operate it.
• Beginner stitches and their settings
• How to use a sewing pattern
• How to properly cut fabric using a pattern
• Gain comfort and control with the machine while learning several beginner techniques.
