Class Supplies
You'll need to provide all materials, supplies, and tools.
Fabric & Materials
- 3/4 yards of calico cotton or similar weight
- All-purpose thread to match your fabric
- Scrap fabric for practice
Machine & Equipment
- Sewing machine with straight stitch and zigzag stitch
- Iron and ironing surface

- Paper scissors
- Snips

- Seam ripper
- Measuring tape
- Tailor's chalk or pencil
- Point turner
- Masking tape or washi tape
The Market Tote pattern must be printed and assembled before class.

This class is for absolute beginners who want guidance learning their machine and completing their first sewing project. The Market Tote—a versatile carry-all with a side pocket—introduces foundational skills through techniques ideal for new sewists.

What you'll need:
- A computer, tablet, or smartphone with reliable internet. A larger screen is recommended for best visibility. Download the latest version of Zoom here.
- If you already have Zoom installed, please make sure you're running the latest version before class begins, as outdated versions can cause connection issues or unexpected update prompts once class has started.

Each session is recorded and available for 30 days. You can review recordings to catch up or rewatch techniques.
Your Zoom link and password will be emailed the day before each session. Please double-check your email address when registering.
