What to Prepare Before Class

Before the first session, you'll receive an introduction guide and video walking you through exactly how to prepare for the class. This includes cutting your muslin samples in advance so you're ready to sew along from the very first class.

Class Supplies
You'll need to provide all materials, supplies, and tools.
Fabric & Materials - 1.25 yards of muslin or plain weave fabric like broadcloth (plus scrap for practice)
- 0.25 yards of lightweight to medium weight fusible interfacing
- Polyester thread (contrasting colour recommended; black works well)
- 10" twill tape or selvage edge
Machine & Equipment - Sewing machine
- Iron and ironing surface
- Fabric scissors
- Paper scissors
- Scotch tape
- Pins
- Seam ripper
- Measuring tape
- Pencil or fabric marker
- Point turner
- Tailor's ham (optional but not essential. You can follow this tutorial to make your own)
- Stapler or glue stick

Who This Class Is For
This workshop is for sewers who've completed at least one or two projects but want to understand the foundations—not just follow instructions. It's ideal if you're seeking a confident foundation in garment construction, unsatisfied with your results but unsure why, or largely self-taught and feel you've missed core fundamentals.

- A computer, tablet, or smartphone with reliable internet. A larger screen is recommended for best visibility. Download the latest version of Zoom here.
- If you already have Zoom installed, please make sure you're running the latest version before class begins, as outdated versions can cause connection issues or unexpected update prompts once class has started.

Each session is recorded and available for 30 days. You can review recordings to catch up or rewatch techniques.
